Well, TV doesn't turn my head much and I tried the "use yourself as a mode" which I tell everyone to do when they say "I don't have anyone to model".  For me the problem is I squint all the time - two reasons - one, I am always looking through a viewfinder and two, I have glaucoma and the light often bothers me - and - I have bad skin (psoriasis, thankfully not on my face) so I can't even use my own hands for shots. Took a hundred shots a couple of days ago, hence the new avatar, but it was the only one I could stand to look at out of them all  cheesy  Most of them, I looked at and said "who is that old person?"  cheesy

Then I ran right out to the drugstore and bought Loreal's "Wrinkle Decrease" cream  Cool ...hope it works.

I love to shoot my grandkids, but they live a whole town away now, and are in school all day so I don't have the same access to them I used to. My husband, well he's not much of a model...

stuck his face in my lens the other day and got this 'give away' pic of him:

http://www.morguefile.com/archive/?display=104466&

dirty glasses and highlights, so no good for stock, but it made me laugh, which is always a good thing.

Oh yeah...did I mention...I am  BORED  shocked

...I do have a picture of the boat  cheesy

Hi Mike - nice to see you in the forums. I noticed some of your shots on MSP - I especially like "Missing Identity" and "Peering Inside" - super shots.

And yes, you can join Smiley, the poster will be for all the members here.

Gracey,
I like the new avatar picture.... you're an attractive lady, I think it came out well..... I too have glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy in both my eyes.... in fact they had to put a tube in my left eye two years ago and I still don't have any sight in it yet.... but I'm doing pretty good as a one eyed jack  wink

Your hubby looks like a cool guy too.... he should pose more !  rolleyes

When I take pictures of me, I use a flash... that helps the squinting....
The other thing I did was I took a 2" x 2" lat and cut it to my height... then I tool another one and cut it to the lenght of my shoulders.... I then nailed them together in a "T" leaving some space at the top for head space.... put a base on it and now I use it as a stunt double for me to set up the shot....  I use a small piece of masking on the floor to mark where I'm going to stand... then after I set up the lights on my double, and compose the shot, I just remove the "T"... stand on the X and have 10 seconds before the camera takes the shot...

It's been working pretty good !  shocked  But it hasn't improved on my looks  rolleyes  embarassed  cheesy

Anyway... that's my secret......  wink  Cool

Well, you are just too sweet - you cant see all my wrinkles in a pic that size.

Funny - I don't very often run across many people with glaucoma. It's a nasty thing to have, but thankfully there's some control for it these days. Guess it depends on what variety you have...some day I may go blind, but for now - I squint  cheesy

Thanks for the 'stunt double' idea. I guess I could give it a try, but it definitely won't be "wide" enough, lol. And I'm pretty sure doing a full body shot of myself is NOT an option  cheesy I would be like Kirsty...end up doing ads for Jenny Craig or Weight Watches (which I do follow).

I've been trying to get my husband to pose for me, but he's just never home enough. I'd have to catch him sleeping...you don't wannna see that  shocked

I don't see any wrinkles in that picture, in fact you look young, and slim too....  wink

My eye problems are a direct result of the diabetes.... and like everything else, it can progress to blindmess.... unfortunately, I have a number of health problems brought on because of a wild and crazy life style when I was younger and not taking care of myself....  but I'll just keep on truckin' as long as I can and enjoy everything along the way.....

I should have mentioned too... that my "T" is cut to waist height... only because of space limitations.... and I place it on a stool.... sometimes I sit on the stool in the shots too....

You know.... when the hubby is sleeping... that would be a good time to put funny hats and stuff on him and get the pictures... and if you slip on a pair of sunglasses.. no one could tell he was asleep !  evil

Yes, I'll still do the poster and no, you haven't missed it  cheesy

I'm just waiting til we have enough forum posters to start collecting up the photos.

It doesn't do much good until you've got about 15 or 20 people.
