Future Poster

On one of the other sites I use some of the members got together and created a poster of all the submitters (those who wanted to participate anyways). First time we've all been on the same page for anything  

It sort of started out as a lark, but ended up being something good. Mine's going over my desk so I can look at everyone

I've instituted this project at two other sites (not stock sites) I belong to as well.

If MicroStockPhoto grows (number of active submitters I mean) in the next few months it might be interesting to do one for here also. How many would be interested in submitting their pics for the project (self portrait, i mean - not necessarily pics you sell)?

The one "over there" came out of a thread someone else started called "come out and show yourselves" asking people to post a pic of themselves so we could get to know each other. I just thought it would be nice to be able to see everyone all together instead of wading through the threads, so the poster project came together from that.

I'd like have one here as well - not so many use the forums regularly, so it might be harder to get their pics but I'd be willing to put it together if we can figure out how to get the faces

Maybe use the colours of the site itself?

Well, that would be fine for people who actually read the forums and see what's happening, but what about all those submitters who only submit photos and don't 'play in the forums'?

One other site I'm doing this for sent a global email to all the members for me - within a few minutes I got 8 photos from members I never even heard of because they don't use the forums.

If we only use the forum peeps, we'll end up with maybe 8 or so pics  

Part of the problem in sending a mail out though is that in this case, i notice that there are quite a few members who have signed up, but not submitted pics either, so they aren't participating in the site at all.

Well if they're not participating in the site at all..... and we never hear from them.... do we really want to be looking at thier picture ?

No, and that's the problem. If we just send a global email it goes to every member who is signed up. It would be better if we could come up with a way where we could contact only those members who upload photos

SS we had over 100; the other sites I am still collecting - my inbox was full this morning from replies to the email. If it keeps going we'll have well over the 150 at the other site.

Even if we can get 50-80 it would make a nice poster.

Also what we found was after the email, people came to the forums to look at the thread, but some of them have started posting too, so it's made the place more active.

It's called  W I N T E R

...lately most days have been too cold to take the camera out (too cold to take me out too)

...and I am bored to tears. Won't be like this come spring tho'. I shoot every single day - sometimes all day when I go out. We bought a boat last fall, so I am looking forward to shooting some 'middle of the lake' stuff this year.

The posters take very little time once you've got the pics. The forums don't take up much time to check either - though I spend a little more time on a contest site because I moderate there.

Kids are grown, husband is gone all day and we are old people - we don't make all that much mess, so how much time can I spend cleaning?  

I'd prefer to be shooting - but I'm sick of objects right now - maybe later
