I've just discovered this new Micro Site, and found the tone and attitude so refreshingly positive and open that I couldn't resist joining. The freedom to not just discuss the rest of the stock world, but even name competitors and allow free discussion without heavy handed control seems just so grown up and positive compared to certain other sites.

Also the quality of images already on the site is well above average, and is an encouragement to find one's best images to upload and help build up another option for buyers.

I know the fans of exclusivity think its daft to spread one's wares around, but I see it as the same as selling products in shops, -  not everyone shops in the same place, and different stores have different product ranges etc.

Not every site wants the same images, or has the same idea about what sells as stock, so shutting the door on doing business elsewhere is an odd attitude to take IMHO Smiley

Other new sites I've joined are also slow at the moment, and this is probably the earliest I've found a fledgling site. I'll keep uploading to help build a comprehensive range of images and wish everyone here well,

Hi

thanks for the positive comments. You are right, we are fledgling, so fledgling in fact that we haven't even got feathers yet, never mind flight feathers. Sales aren't great at the minute but we are still young and we have had some sales which is a good sign and I'm optimistic.

I'm pleased that you think the images are above average too because that can only be a good thing and something to build on. In fact that is largely due to the photographers here providing images that are better than average.

As this forum and the site grows, I'm hoping that designers and photographers will have an open place to discuss what their needs are and hopefully we can all learn from each other. But that can only be achieved if discussions are allowed to be open. I have no objections whatsoever to any such discussions, in fact, they should be encouraged.

Personally, I think that photographers should be free to sell their images where they like and designers should be free to buy where they like.
Hopefully my policy of allowing buyers to buy even a single image instead of having to buy multiple credits or a subscription means that if that's all they want, then they will come here rather than at another site where you have to buy a minimum number of credits or pay a monthly subscription.

I can understand stock sites wanting exclusivity but I never understood why a photographer would want to be exclusive to a single site. It doesn't seem to make sense financially but if it works for them that's fine. We don't require, expect or want that.

It's already noticeable that some images sell better on some sites than on others so why not take advantage of that and spread your images around. Your shop analogy is a good one.

Again, thanks for the positive comments and welcome to MS...

Regards

John
