I have applied to Alamy and is registered but did not submit yet to them. One of my friends, Forgiss , is with them. They do not sell a lot of images but when they sell they sell big! Some photographers have 300 images on Alamy. With one sale they made $100. But that is like 1 sale for the year. If you want to sit it out, you can make sale of them.

I'm submitting to 12 sites. About 7 of them is good with a new kid on the block that I'm backing all the way wink

I had a couple of hundred images with Alamy and in 2 years I sold one photo. My commission for that was $136.00 which sounds good but as you say, sales are few and far between. I actually make 4 or 5 times that amount with microstock for the same number of images.

I had a mix of rights managed and royalty free but have since deleted all my rights managed and intend to resubmit them all as royalty free.

It takes a lot more time to get images up onto the site. First of all you have to make sure they are at least 48MB and then you have to post them on a CD/DVD. After that, approval takes a 2-3 weeks and then they get uploaded by Alamy.

Then you have to go to the site and submit the uploads.

In my opinion, their selection and quality criteria is much less than the microstock agencies. In fact I only ever had one image rejected and that was because I forgot to interpolate the file size up to the minimum 48MB.

I guess in terms of income from them, it's large payments are infrequent compared to microstock which gives small payments very often, however, they don't expect exclusivity and anything you earn there is over and above what you'll get from the microstock sites.

If anyone submits there and does well please let us know.

Cheers

That is also why i did not go exclusive to a site. Some sites have approached me for me to submit exclusively to them. I figure that i make more distrubuting my base across a few sites. I sell diffrent images on diffrent sites. It makes sence in what you say John. I like to see my stock move.. wink  and not wait a year for that 1 sale. .
