I'm not very pleased with the changes at Fololia either.  At least they got rid of the Jury thing and the mandatory voting.   That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of.  I have noticed sales and views have dropped this past week and it seems we no longer get emails when we make a sale, as I had 2 sales that I didn't know about.

Hopefully, they will settle down and things will improve.

I told you before in a recent post if  I was to receive any postive answer from Fotolia, I let you know.  So, here a copy of the e mail I received to day. They finally changed their politics about this stupid academic review.

==============
Copy of the e mail : "Hello. I am sorry this email has taken so long to get to you. I just looked at the comments in the blog today. By now you should know that the jury issue has gone away. It was a drastic change and we were willing to take a risk but it didn’t work as planned. I know there are many changes on the website and some things are different. We still have many improvements to do over the next few weeks but we felt this was a good time to introduce the current site. I understand your feelings about the free site but we really believe in this concept. However we are flexible and if Fotolia is not able to make money off the program I am sure we will kill it.

I really hope you do stick around. Once the bugs are fixed on this site we will really push our worldwide marketing plan.

My contact information is below. Feel free to get a hold of me directly at any time.
Signed : Chad Bridwell

Director of US Operations

Fotolia.com"

end of the e mail

==========

That's a good news.

Well, I made a visit to Fotolia again and submitted a few images. I see 'asthetic' is still their favorite word. Their submission process still irritates the hell out of me. It takes me twice as long as it does on any other site. sheesh!

I only submit one picture since and refused also for non aesthetic. Very irritating so I didn't resubmit.   Too many refusals with the same irritating response "non aesthetic".
I give up.

Think you just got a bad reviewer. I have 100% acceptance out of 120 images. The uploads was spread accross a few days. Must add that I hate uploading to that site! Its a mission...

most of our stuff has also been acepted without a problem. I like to ftp all the images there. It is pretty quick, but the part where you have to then go through three pages before they will look at anything isn't so fun. Sales wise they are not the best but we get a few sales everday generally.

Hi Christy,

Do you like the new changes on Fotolia? I had some problems with my model releases. I linked them and uploaded it. They then said that I must upload model releases.. that I have already done and can be displayed and can be viewed. Bit of a pain for 200 images cry

I like the changes they made. Its a bit faster and all on one page. I prefer MSP method. It is just so much faster. I can almost submit the same amount of images uploading them 1 at a time to MSP than to another site with FTP and then uploading, cat them.

Be Cool

Well I'm hoing to have a multi upload script by the end of January so hopefully that will make things easier.

However, if you want to upload more than one image at a time there is a way to do it. open the upload page in several windows and upload afile in each window.

Not the most streamlined way of doing things but it does work. wink

Thanks John, that is what i have been doing . I open a few uploads to your site and it works like a charm..

I have a problem with Fotolia's FTP uploader. It just upload 1 image at a time. If i add more than one it boms out and don't upload the rest. In the end I just leave them for last as it frustrates me.

Fotolia has a new "rewards" program for Feb 06 only. Sales are going up. They have fixed their model release problem.. or is it just beacause I have uploaded 3 model release?

"Beginning February 1, 2006 Fotolia will pay 0.20 credits for EVERY image uploaded and accepted by our editing team. No thresholds, and a simple calculation: 1 accepted picture in Febuary = 0.20 credits for the photographer. As with the January Upload Program you must keep your images online for a minimum of 12 months. "

I think this is a very clever way of increasing their totals. It will aslo have their reviewers work harder as everyone will upload what they got.. Maybe go upload 1000 approved images for $200.00.

Got to go shoot! evil
