Hi all

I've had the following email and wonder what your thoughts are..

It could be a great way to promote the site and get some sales coming in very early on.. In short, the Russian version of Digital Creative Arts wants some free images to put on their cover CD. In return they will write an article about us and hopefully we'll get sales from designers in and around that area.. I've emailed them back with a couple of questions but I want your thoughts on this please...

I don't know how many or exactly what images at the minute but I need your feedback..

Who would be willing to partcicipate and give a couple of images?

What are your thoughts?

I WILL NOT PROVIDE IMAGES FROM ANYONE THAT DOESN'T SPECIFICALLY STATE THAT THEY ARE WILLING TO GIVE THEM.

I NEED EXPRESS PERMISSION FROM YOU TO DO SO.

Here is a copy the message I was sent via the support page on the site

I\'m a multimedia editor for russian version of Digital Creative Arts

Instead of this we write about your site and many

Our magazine is single edition in Russia, which write how to create
interesting designers decision and how work with popular designers

I think it is a great idea. It will be interesting to see though how many images this guy wants. Will it truly be a few or more? If it is a lot then it might seem kind of fishy. If it is not a lot then I think it would be legit. That is my guess anyway.

I don't have a problem with it either.  Maybe you can negotiate for a few copies of the magazine or cd.

Hello Elvinstar

What are you considering a lot ?  They have choose 7 of mines and I accepted even if I found them a little bit "gourmand".  Smiley

I can confirm that this has been a genuine offer and has come around at a great time.

I have been in almost constant discussion with Mike the multimedia editor of DCA Russia for most of yesterday and today and here is the deal.

We supplied 58 images in total of which probably 50 will end up on the cover CD of the Digital Creative Arts magazine. Thanks for all the offers but no more images are needed nor should we supply more.

In return we get a write up in the magazine which is read across the whole of Russia and neighbouring countries.

They will supply the article to anyone that wants it in pdf format although it will be in Russian wink

Importantly we get exposure across a large market of buyers since the magazine is predominantly aimed at graphic designers and web designers. Hopefully, they will enjoy the sample images that they will come to the site to buy more.

The deal is they can use the images one time only for one edition of the magazine.

All copyright as you would expect remains with the photographer.

The use of photos is restricted to the same terms and conditions of the website as if they had been purchased.

The lead in time for such magazine is usually around 3 months but it may be less so watch this space. I'll get a date soon. Better buy more bandwidth now smiley

I'd like to thank everyone for their generosity and trust. And now.... I intend to catch up on a couple of hours sleep wink

Hello again

We didn't have a lot of time to secure this so thanks

It's done and dusted. I was working to quite a tight deadline because the magazine actually goes on sale at the beginning of DECEMBER. Only 2 weeks time.

Thanks everyone that agreed to provide images. These are the images I provided. If you agreed but they are not on this list it's only because your agreement arrived past the deadline and I wouldn't allow the use for the magazine unless I had your express permission.

Huh! I go on holiday for a few days, and look what you got up to while I was away!

Well done John, it is a great move at such an early stage in the game.

Perhaps it may be a good idea to have list of photographers willing to contribute ready for next time, so that you are ready to say 'Yes' immediately? You could certainly put me on such a list.
